Midlock Inferno

Leading the trade was Midlock Inferno from the Wight family, Alan, Karen and Ben, Biggar. By Claybury Hotshot out of a dam by Sportsmans Cannon Ball, it sold a two-way split to Alan Blackwood, Auldhouseburn flock, Ayrshire, and Charlie Boden and family, Sportsmans and Mellor Vale flocks, Cheshire.

ÌýAlan Blackwood was then on the other end of the equation when taking a 65,000gns call for Auldhouseburn Imperial King, a son of Okehall Hammerhead, the champion junior stock ram in last year's National Flock Competition. ET bred out of a ewe lamb by 90,000gns Hilltop Goliath, it sold to the McKerrow family, Uppermill and Tillycairn, Robbie Wilson, Milnbank and the Knox family, Haddo.

Another from the Auldhouseburn pen, Auldhouseburn Illusion, took the next best bid of 55,000gns, again by Okehall Hammerhead and out of a dam by 130,000gns Haymount Fan Dabi Dozi. It was shared in a six-way split, with two-fifths taken by Stuart Barclay, Harestone, and equal shares bought by Sandy Hunter, Wedderburn, Robert Cockburn, Knap, Messrs Arnott, Haymount, and Allan Campbell, Strawfrank.

ÌýNext at 42,000gns was another from Messrs Blackwood, Auldhouseburn Impression, a full ET brother to the 55,000gns Illusion which helpd the Auldhouseburn pen to an average of £35,763 for five sold. This one found a new home with John Forsyth, Glenside flock, Maybole, with the Blackwoods retaining a half share.

The Bodens took a 40,000gns bid for Mellor Vale Impeccable, a son of 30,000gns Milnbank Hunter out of a dam by Castlecairn Doodlebug. It sold with a top 5% texelplus index to Gordon and David Gray, Ettrick and Tima, Selkirk.

ÌýÌýFemales

A new sale female record of 20,000gns was set by the MacGregor family, Allanfauld flock, Kilsyth, for a Knap Godzilla daughter out of a dam by Procters Chumba Wumba which was full sister to a 10,000gns female sold recently for charity. It was bought in a two-way split by Messrs Blackwood and Messrs Boden and Davies, Stockport, having been female champion in the pre-sale show.

Next at 5,000gns was the reserve female champion from James Porter, Saltcotes. By Hexel Geronimo II and out of a dam by Hexel Freaky Blinder, the third prize winner from the Great Yorkshire Show, found a new home with Charlier Fielder for his Test Valley flock, Hampshire.

ÌýAverages - 155 ram lambs, £4,798.84; 7 gimmers, £4,425.
