STIRLING BULL SALES: Aberdeen-Angus bulls top at 10,000gns

Leading on the first of the three days at Stirling was a 10,000gns top call for Aberdeen-Angus bulls. 

Averages were up £455 on the year at £5,051 with a clearance rate unchanged at 66 per cent. 

Sale leader for the Firm of G. Gray, Selkirk, was Ettrick Batman V227. The April-2019 born bull is by Linton Gilbertines President S021, the October 2017 champion at Stirling which was jointly purchased for 17,000gns. Out of Ettrick Bella N122, it sold to A. M. and C. Ewen, Banff. 

Making 9,000gns was Foxhill Dominator V185, a March-2019 born son of Gretnahouse Blacksmith L500 out of Weeton Diamond Mist N383. From Michael and Melanie Alford, Cullompton, and brought out by Richard and Carol Rettie, it was knocked down to A.J. and W.M. Norrie, Turriff. 

Drumhill Exeter V105, a homebred January-2019 born bull by Drumhill Lord Hatfield R532 from Jonathan and Lisa Doyle, Cookstown, sold for 8,500gns next. Out of Drumhill Evora P101, it went home with M. Sheahan, Kilmallock.

Selling for 7,500gns was Ballindalloch Mr Peanut V561, from Ballindalloch Home Farms, Ballindalloch. The March-2019 born bull by Wedderlie Timaru M594, out of Ballindalloch Miss Primrose R467 sold to Alastair Grant, Morayshire.

Next at 6,800 was January-2019 born Stephick Ezra V561. By Weeton Diamond Mine P444 and out of Weeton Evora P439, Ezra was junior male champion at Stars of the Future in November 2019 as well as junior male champion at the Black Beauty Bonanza last year. From Stephanie Dick, Stirling, it went home with J. King, Thorntonhall, Glasgow.

Making 6,400gns was another from the Alford's consignment, Foxhill Dictator V186. A Gretnahouse Blacksmith L500 son out of Weeton Diamond Mist N383 it was knocked down to W. S. L. Muir, Orkney.  

Weeton dispersal tops the Angus female trade at 11,000gns

The Weeton herd dispersal on behalf of John Loftus, Preston, Lancashire, led the Aberdeen-Angus female trade at 11,000gns for Weeton Laura T509. A May-2017 born Blelack Duke J262 daughter, out of Haughton Laura L026, Laura sold with its May-2020 born bull calf at foot, Weeton Landlord W120 and sold PD'd in calf to Haymount War Smith R758. The buyers were Richard and Carol Rettie, Perth.

Blelack Blackbird T853, an April-2017 born Blelack Lord Blackcock P302 daughter bred by N.F. Massie and Sons, Dinnet, sold for 6,200gns. It sold PD'd in calf to Weeton Topgun and was also knocked down to the Rettie's.

Making 5,800gns was one of the herd's heifers, Weeton Top Lass V523. By Blelack Banjo Man N126, it was bought by K. McOscarm, Cookstown.

Eastfield reduction 

The reduction of the Eastfield herd on behalf of T.H. Brewis, Kelso, sold to a high of 5,200gns for the 2013-born cow Eastfield Jenny N500, which sold with its March-2020 born heifer calf, Eastfield Jenny W457, at foot. The buyers were M.R. McCornick, NewtonStewart.
