Fircovert Peacock
After taking the overall male inter-breed title the Simmental bull, Fircovert Peacock, went on to claim the supreme beef championship. The two-year old son of Clonagh Latin Lover out of Fircovert Kitty owned and bred by Paul Gunther, Norwich, and shown by Holly Lutkin, was male and reserve breed champion at Suffolk Show and inter-breed champion at South Suffolk Show earlier in the year. Peacock is being retained as a stock bull and will head to Royal Norfolk and the Great Yorkshire Shows next.
Standing reserve supreme was the overall female and Charolais champion, Drumshane Urbangirl, a two-year-old heifer from Darren Knox, Colchester. By Elgin Oliver out of Balbithan Nancy, it was being shown for the first time this year after having been junior inter-breed champion the show and at the Great Yorkshire Show last season.

Inter-breed judge, Grant Anderson, Carrutherstown, said: "My champion had massive presence, with great power and good conformation and shape. Exactly what you are looking for in a bull – size, shape and scope with great breed quality.
"The reserve also stood out, with style and presence and really filled the eye."
The Sussex bull, 2020-born Offham Crusader 4 by Offham Poll Crusader 1 claimed the reserve male inter-breed title. Home-bred by Messrs Wakeham-Dawson and Harmer, Lewes, it has been used as a stock bull but has just been sold to Iford Estate.
The reserve inter-breed female and the inter-breed junior championship went the the Limousin breed champion, Goscombe Vixen, a January 2024-born home-bred heifer by Carrickmore Maximus from Sarah Jackson, Alresford, Hampshire, which had been junior inter-breed champion at Hertfordshire County Show.

The commercial championship went to Sean Marsh, Dover, with Lainey, an April 2024-born British Blue cross heifer which had been bought from breeders, R.R. Reay and Son, Matfen, at Barnard Castle mart in February and was having its first show ring outing.

Dairy
In the dairy rings the top spot went to John Smith, St Osyth, Essex, with the Ayrshire champion, the second calver Wigboro Wick Hawiian Helena 2 VG88. The daughter of Hawiian which calved in February and is currently giving 45kg daily, was reserve breed champion at Suffolk Show and honorable mention at Dairy Expo in March.

The reserve dairy inter-breed title went to the reserve Ayrshire champion, Douglas S Drifter Buddy by Dilham Drifter, the winning heifer in-milk from Margaret Howie, Wrotham.

The any other dairy breed champion was Kedar Rhapstar Hot Chocolate, a Brown Swiss heifer in-milk from the Dean family, Ashford, which was bought as a calf from Jonny Lochhead, Dumfries, and was reserve inter-breed champion at Heathfield Show earlier in the season.
Inter-breed judge, Peter Beresford, Tideswell, said his champion was a good example of the breed with a great frame and well attached udder, good bone quality and was very stylish.

Sheep
Claiming the sheep inter-breed title was the any other continental breed champion, a home-bred shearling ewe from Ben Hughes and Harriet Jackson's Goscombe flock, Alresford. By a Beanhill bred ram, it was breed champion at Hertfordshire County Show and will next go to Kent and the New Forest shows.
Judge, Alan Lyons, Somerset, said he noticed his champion as soon as it came into the ring and when he handled it, it was ‘spot on' and a very smart sheep.

In reserve was the Southdown champion, a home-bred 2021-born ewe by Ridings Acrobat from Sargent, Wakeham-Dawson and Harmer, Lewes, which had been inter-breed champion at the show as a shearling ewe and its sister was inter-breed champion last year.

Pigs
Offham Teresa 42, a home-bred Welsh sow, also from the Sargent, Wakeham-Dawson and Harmer partnership was the winner of the pig inter-breed championship. In-pig with its 11th litter, it is the winner of many breed titles but this was a first inter-breed win for the March 2019-born sow.
The judge, David Hobbs, Dorset, said his champion ‘has a good underline, has good feet and walks well and is a great example of the breed.

In reserve was the Large Black champion, Framfield Diana 300 by Westerley Majestic Eagel 32A, a home-bred July 2020-born sow from Maria Naylor, Framfield, which is in-pig with its 9th litter.
