Big Banner Day to be held on December 19 to stop the family farm tax - how to get involved

NFU has announced a ‘huge banner campaign', starting in December, as part of its campaign to stop the family farm tax.

It has encouraged farmers to mark December 19 in their calendars as Big Banner Day.

The day will see its roadside banners in prominent locations across the whole of the UK for all to see.

Farmer campaign

This is a joint campaign with the four UK farming unions standing in solidarity, representing farmers and growers in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

It added it wanted farms to display banners throughout the coming months and share pictures at [email protected].

It said: "This is just the next step in our campaign, and we will be continuing to push for change for as long as it takes. In the end, it is only a mix of public support and political pressure which will change this awful policy."

The union has initially identified key, targeted locations to display banners on December 19 in areas which give ‘maximum strategic political impact in constituencies that can help build pressure on the government'.

A map with pins of the locations will be shared on its website.

Family farm tax

This includes on the roadside, in a farm shop or a public-facing right of way. Banners on gateposts will feature a QR code that will take you to the Stop the Family 51AVÊÓƵTax campaigns area of NFUonline.

In January, NFU members and the public will also be able to order more campaign materials – banners and car stickers – through its online shop at cost price.
