Top price heifer from J.S. Baillie
听The sale leader was听a February 2024-born Limousin cross heifer, which took the 2024 haltered heifer championship before selling to Susan and Allan Campbell, Lochgoilhead.
The champion heifer in the 2023 section, went onto sell for the second top price of the day of 拢6,000. This was a 10-month-old 440kg Limousin cross heifer from G. and J. Greenlaw, Balgairn Farms, Ballater which went to an undisclosed telephone bidder.
Graham Sutherland, Lybster, sold his 286kg Limousin cross heifer, Belinda, for 拢5,600 to Slack and Haugh, Penrith.
听Stewart Bett, Stirling, judged the show of exhibition cattle awarding the overall championship to the 2023 champion bullock, a Limousin cross bullock from Balfour Baillie, Tankerness, Orkney. The Limousin cross by Huntershall Rosco went onto sell to John D. Work, Mains of Dumbreck, Udny, Ellon for 拢3,400.
Two Limousin cross heifers, both by Redriver Powerful, and from Balfour Baillie, sold for 拢4,000 apiece. First was a May 2023-born 450kg calf and the second was a five-month-old 243kg heifer selling to Sophie Weir, Morayshire.
A March-born Limousin cross bullock won the 2024 section for the Fraser family, Lethen, Nairn, and sold for 拢3,900 to Julie Sedgewick, Aycliffe, Durham.
The Robertson family of Newton of Logierait, Pitlochry, achieved 拢3,500 for their January 2024-born 302kg Limousin cross Charolais heifer which took the reserve champion 2024 haltered heifer, and sold to A. Ireland, Darvel, Ayrshire.
J. Scott Watson, Carnoustie, bought a May 2023-born 59kg Limousin cross heifer from J. S. Youngson, Echt for 拢3,200.
听The Robertsons then sold a 495kg Limousin cross heifer for 拢2,700 to Wilson Peters, Monzie, Crieff.
Just behind at 拢2,500 was a six-month-old, 306kg Limousin cross heifer, Jojo from G. Sutherland, Lybster, which sold to Emslies Livestock, Mintlaw, Peterhead.
