#FGTaketheLead: RSPCA show their support

RSPCA spokesperson said:

"Whilst the vast majority of people take care as a matter of course, sadly accidents can happen and even the most docile and obedient dogs can get distracted and excited by grazing animals.

"Livestock worrying is a serious animal welfare problem which not only puts farm animals at risk but dogs and people too, who in some cases can be trampled by cattle and horses.

"The RSPCA urges dog owners to keep their dogs on a lead and under control around livestock or in fields where they suspect farm animals could be grazing to prevent these kinds of incidents.

"We would also urge farmers to have good fencing to protect their animals and would encourage them to put up prominent signs to warn dog walkers that there are farm animals in fields."
