Trade and industry experts to discuss the future of cereals post-Brexit in new webinar

With 2021 set to usher in a new era of change to trading arrangements, farm support and crop protection regulation, how will Brexit affect the cereals sector?

That is just of the questions we will be asking at this year's Brexit webinar, powered by The CropTec Show.

Taking place on October 22 at 8pm and chaired by Farmers Guardian chief reporter Abi Kay, the event will host a stellar line up of speakers, who will discuss what is on the horizon for the arable sector and how farmers and traders will be affected on the ground.

Kicking off the discussion is NFU vice-president Tom Bradshaw, who will provide practical details of how farmers can plug into the new Environmental Land Management (ELM) scheme and assess what opportunities it presents for arable businesses.

Trading arrangements

To offer an insight into how the UK's new trading arrangements are set to affect the cereal sector is Emily Rees, managing director at trade strategies and senior fellow at the European Centre for International Political Economy (ECIPE).

Emily's extensive career in trade policy and economic diplomacy make her perfectly placed to answer questions about how the cereals trade could be affected by different Brexit scenarios.

The event will also see Crop Protection Association (CPA) chief executive Dave Bench explore how the UK might diverge from EU rules on crop protection and any subsequent impact on competitiveness, the future for key products such as glyphosate and whether the UK is prepared to embrace new technologies such as gene editing.

The event is free to attend and you can register via the webinar page at: https://www.croptecshow.com/brexit-webinar/
