Champion in the sheep rings at the Royal Cheshire Show was a Dutch Spotted shearling gimmer from Jack Simpson, Hope Valley, Derbyshire.

The gimmer, Back Tor Ice Queen, is by a home-bred tup and out of a home-bred ewe, which has previously bred tups that have sold up to 8,000gns.

This year, the gimmer has been breed champion at Nottinghamshire County Show and reserve any other continental breed at Staffordshire County Show.

This marked the second year on the bounce that a Dutch Spotted from Mr Simpson had taken top breed honours at Cheshire, and he will next be heading to the Great Yorkshire.

Inter-breed judge Will Sedgley, Lancashire, said there was little to separate his champion and reserve, which was a home-bred Zwartbles shearling ewe, bred and exhibited by Steph Bower, Bridgnorth, Shropshire.

This one was breed champion at this year's Shropshire County after showing well last year as a ewe lamb.

Ms Bower keeps 25 Zwartbles ewes and will next be showing at the Hanbury, Newport and Burwarton shows.Ìý

Beef

Supreme champion in the beef rings was the native beef, junior beef and Aberdeen-Angus champion Dinmore Foreman B910, from Paul Dawes, Dinmore Estate, Herefordshire.

Out of Dinmore Freesia X644, which was native champion at the show three years ago, it was the first time out for the February 2025-born home-bred bull, with stockman Neil Lloyd on the halter.

Standing reserve supreme beef champion was the continental and Charolais champion, Goldstar Ulysses, from Thor Atkinson, Ulverston.

Brought out by Steven O'Kane, the Neptune son was purchased privately from the Tipperary-based Goldstar herd and also claimed the inter-breed beef championships at this year's South of England, Stafford and Devon shows. It heads to the Great Yorkshire Show next.

Standing reserve native champion and reserve exhibitor-bred champion was the Hereford champion, a cow and calf outfit from Robert Shaw, Chester.

The five-year-old home-bred cow, Hallwood 1 Lady Jewel, was also placed native champion at this year's Stafford Show. It was shown with its November 2025-born bull calf at foot.

Reserve continental champion was the British Blue champion, Springfield U Bonnie, from Adele Sweetmore, Stoke-on-Trent.

The two-year-old home-bred heifer is by Ballygrange Alex and out of Springfield Olive.

British Blonde

This year's Royal Cheshire Show was host to the British Blonde national show, where Bridge Viva, a two-year-old heifer from Mark and Chris Shenton, Cheshire.

It was the first time out for the home-bred heifer which resides with the Shenton family's 50-head pedigree British Blonde herd.Ìý

Lowline AngusÌý

The show was also host the national Lowline Angus show, where judge Juliet Swires of the Harrogate-based Cragg Aberdeen-Angus herd tapped out Sunshine Lilly, from sisters Sophie and Niamh Tunney, Cuddington.Ìý

The home-bred three-and-a-half year old cow, was shown with it's two month old bull calf at foot.Ìý

Dairy

In the dairy rings it was the Holstein champion, Riverdane Miss Awesome Strawberry Red, from the partnership of Riverdane Holsteins and Hope Valley Holsteins, Cheshire, which was crowned supreme.

The fifth-calver also previously placed inter-breed champion and champion Red and White at Borderway UK Dairy Expo. It was shown 180 days calved and giving 50 litres daily.

The any other breed champion, a Brown Swiss cow from Brent and Anne Crothers and the team at Toi Toi Genetics, Shropshire, stood reserve dairy champion.

The third-calver, named Toi Toi My Mums A Hoover, was any other breed champion at this year's Borderway UK Dairy Expo and any other breed and reserve inter-breed champion at last year's Royal Cheshire Show.

It was shown giving 35 litres daily after calving in September and is predicted to give 12,000 litres in this lactation.

Pigs

Claiming the top spot in the pig judging was the traditional champion, a British Saddleback gilt, Lewin Lady 6, from Emily Paddock, Stoke-on-Trent.

The home-bred gilt also placed champion at this year's South of England Show, with its granddam previously taking the supreme title at the Royal Cheshire Show. Residing with Ms Paddock's 20-sow herd, it heads to the Great Yorkshire Show next.

Reserve overall pig champion was the modern champion, a Pietrain gilt named Pittop Pauline 2 from Michael Wilson.

It was the first time out for the November-born gilt, with its dam placing supreme champion at last year's Halifax Show.
