Topping the day at 9,200gns was second prize winner, April 2023-born Trebarfoote Agamemnon from Pamela Idelson-Smith, Bude, Cornwall. By Goldings Governor and out of Trebarfoote Betsey 4, it sold to P. Morris, Tiverton.

At 8,200gns was the first from the Champson pen of G. Dart and Sons, South Molton, Devon. April 2023-born Champson Apollo 2 by Colleton out of Champson Maggie 30, a daughter of Yeomaden Jasper, caught the eye of R. E. Richards, Helston, Cornwall.

Close behind at 8,000gns was the second from the Dart family, March 2023-born Champson Zeus. Another Colleton Thorven son, this time out of a Knowstone Fitzroy 4 daughter, Champson Clara 318, it went to A. Holloway, Tiverton.

Champson Zeus

Hitting the 6,500gns mark was the pre-sale show champion, May 2023-born Stonegrove Major from Stonegrove Livestock, Worcester. ÌýBorn May 2023 and by Bollowal Invincible, out of a homebred Thorndale Assirati daughter, it was knocked down to K. H. May and Partners, Exeter.

Stonegrove Major

Making 5,800gns was Rocknell Rupert 2 from G. J. Summerhayes, Tiverton. This February 2023-born son of Knowstone Showboy EX92 sold to S. Lister, Tavistock.

A 5,200gns call secured the reserve male champion, Larkbarrow Woodland 3 from H. Rawson, Minehead. By Bollowal Back Row, it headed to Kintbury, Berkshire, with C. and A. Hartwright.

Females

Females topped at 3,400gns for April 2023-born Cutcombe Peach 74 from M. Elliott, Dulverton. By Pusey Farms Otto and out of a homebred Ashott Barton Marquis daughter, it sold to Hillcombe Farms, Chard.

The cow and calf outfit of 2021-born Kingsbury Willow by Warson Goliath, with a heifer calf at foot, Kingsbury Chloe, from M. and L. Parsons, Norton-Sub-Hamdon, Somerset, made 3,300gns to T. Irwin, South Molton.

Another from the Kingsbury pen was Kingsbury Aphrodite at 2,700gns. After securing the female championship, this February 2023 born daughter of Ebbesbourne Utah went home with Messrs Dyer and Co, Bridgwater.

Averages: 15 bulls, £5,453; 2 show heifers, £2,467.50; 6 non-show heifers, £2,152.50; 2 cows and calves, £2,625.
