Shropshire firefighters confirm over 15 farm animals killed in barn blaze

A barn fire in Shropshire has resulted in the deaths of over 15 farm animals.

Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service said 300 tonnes of straw and hay inside a barn had caught fire at 4.42am on Wednesday (October 4) in Milson near Cleobury Mortimer.

300 tonnes of straw and hay inside a barn were well alight in Milson near Cleobury Mortimer (Tenbury Wells Fire Station)

Crews from Bishops Castle, Bridgnorth, Church Stretton, Cleobury Mortimer, Craven Arms, Much Wenlock, Newport, Telford and Tweedale were all in attendance.

Firefighters confirmed 17 animals had been killed in the incident.

Crews used a water curtain, jet, hydrant and inflatable dam to put out the fire.

The team did not leave the scene until 8.05pm.
