A nine-year-old girl who was involved in a collision with a tractor in East Ayrshire has died.

Police Scotland said Naomi Ferrans, from New Cumnock, had been struck by a tractor in the Castle Place area at 12:35pm on Monday (September 18) while she was riding her bike.

Officers said she died at the scene.

The A76 had been closed for several hours due to the incident, police confirmed.

Inspector Craig Beaver of Ayrshire's Road Policing Unit said enquiries into the incident were ongoing.
