From the editor: It's an important time for farming - and for FG too

There has never been a more important time for farming. With changes to Inheritance Tax, uncertainty over environmental schemes and geopolitics placing an even bigger spotlight on food security, the way in which Farmers Guardian serves its audiences has never been more vital.

With this in mind, we are supercharging the FG team. After 14 years at FG – two of those as editor, overseeing the brand's digital transformation and launching our Save Britain's Family Farms campaign – I am moving into the new role of editorial director This new role will allow me to shape the editorial and commercial direction of the 180-year-old brand, both in print and digital, as FG expands to develop its offering for its current and future audiences.

So you can look forward to new, even bigger and better editorial initiatives. Our head of livestock, Katie Jones, will step in to become acting editor. So, from next week, she will be writing this welcome note and keeping you informed about important news, and, of course, leading our award-winning content produced by our talented team, many of who are from farming families themselves.

Our focus is to bring you a magazine packed full of everything we know you value, from intelligent analysis and comment on the big issues of the moment, to our inspiring farm features and technical insights. The title will benefit from Katie's deep understanding of both the farming and publishing industries.

She comes from a dairy farming family and has led FG's market-leading livestock coverage since 2011. She has also been the editor of FG's sister title, Dairy Farmer, since 2020 and won several awards for journalism.

Welcome to the editor's chair, Katie.
