BBC teams up with Farmers Guardian for 24 Hours in Farming

On August 8, for 24 hours, farmers and industry figures took to social media to take part in Farmers Guardian's annual digital event, 24 Hours in Farming, posting pictures and videos across multiple platforms to showcase what goes on throughout the day in agriculture.

In its ninth year, the campaign reached new heights after teaming up with the BBC to extend coverage of the event with its page, featuring different farmers from across the country.

A range of topics were covered, and Farmers Guardian journalists also highlighted topics such as diversification, food security and succession in multiple articles.

Farmers Guardian video producer Anthony Voyle also headed up to the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park to film a BBC special with one of the campaign's 24 ambassadors, Frank Carr, the fourth generation to farm at Lee Gate farm, to document the highs and lows of hill farming in 2024.

Various regional BBC radio stations also took part, interviewing farmers and #farm24 ambassadors.

FG's livestock reporter Katie Fallon was on-farm with BBC Radio Lincolnshire for most of the day, reporting straight from the field.

Farmers Guardian editor Olivia Midgley said: "Collaborating with the BBC across its broadcast and digital media platforms helped us supercharge our #FARM24 coverage this year, enabling us to achieve new highs in terms of our audience reach.''
